While Transportation Security Administration agents are not being paid due to the partial government shutdown, some airlines don’t believe members of Congress deserve special treatment when traveling. Delta Air Lines just suspended its “specialty services” perk for U.S. Senators and Representatives amid the shutdown that has left TSA workers without paychecks for more than a month. “Due to the impact on resources from the long-standing government shutdown, Delta will temporarily suspend specialty services to members of Congress flying Delta,” the airline said In a statement to CNBC, noting that next to safety, its top priority is “taking care of our people and customers, which has become increasingly difficult in the current environment.” The decision comes as Congress has been criticized for failing to reach a deal and bring an end to the shutdown which has entered its fifth week, causing long lines at airports, safety issues, and financial instability for workers.
